The Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation has many opportunities for you to be involved!

We want to ensure your experience is valuable and meaningful. We welcome you as a part of our team, will provide you with a mentor, and will work hard to provide you with the resources you need to be successful as a foundation volunteer.

  • Volunteers must be 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.
  • We cannot accommodate court-ordered community service.
  • Florida Cancer Specialists patients who are in active treatment are not eligible to participate in the Volunteer Patient Support program.

Financial Aid Screener (Sarasota/Lakewood Ranch FCS Foundation Office) –   The Financial Aid Screener will answer phones, help process incoming online applications, determine patient eligibility, and ensure all required documentation has been submitted so an approval decision can be made as quickly as possible. Shifts available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The grants provided by the Foundation help pay  rent, car payment, utilities, and/or other essential bills for qualifying patients in the state of Florida. Recommended volunteer time commitment is 3 hours per week for at least 6 months.

Patient Support (FCS Clinics statewide) – This position is responsible for supporting the non-medical needs of patients in the treatment area to provide comfort and companionship, a smile, beverage, snack, or a listening ear. In addition to providing valuable service to individuals battling cancer, this is a wonderful opportunity to liaison for the Foundation, fostering community relationships through the outreach efforts of volunteers. Recommended volunteer time commitment is 3 hours per week for at least 6 months.

Special Event Volunteers (Statewide) – A special event volunteer day-of planning and preparation for Foundation events, including assistance with set up, registration and clean up.
