Listed below are examples of Foundation volunteer opportunities (internships are available).
Client Services Assistant (Sarasota/Lakewood Ranch FCS Foundation Office) - Every day, new applications are submitted to the Foundation. These are from individuals who are not only battling cancer, but are also struggling to pay their daily living expenses. The cost of cancer treatment and medications can be very high. Many times, patients can no longer work and are no longer able to pay their rent, their car payment, their utilities, and/or other essential bills. The Client Services Assistant will answer phones, help process applications, determine eligibility, and ensure all documentation has been submitted so an approval decision can be made as quickly as possible. Shifts available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Volunteer Program (Sarasota/Lakewood Ranch FCS Foundation Office) – The Volunteer Program Assistant will support the statewide volunteer program and process volunteer applications, make follow up phone calls, update the volunteer database and confirm orientation sessions. Shifts available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Administrative/Clerical (Sarasota/Lakewood Ranch FCS Foundation Office) - Help with data entry, answering the phones, filing and other general administrative tasks.
Patient Support (FCS Clinics statewide) – A smile, a bottle of water, a snack, or a listening ear…this position is responsible for supporting the non-medical needs of patients in the treatment area in an effort to provide comfort and companionship. In addition to providing valuable service to individuals battling cancer, this is a wonderful opportunity to liaison for the Foundation, fostering community relationships through the outreach efforts of volunteers.
Special Event Committees (Statewide) - A special event committee volunteer attends committee meetings and assists in the planning and preparation for Foundation events. Pre-event opportunities include soliciting donations for event auctions, obtaining prospective sponsors and preparing event decorations. And we always can use assistance on-site at events with set up, registration and clean up.
Partnerships (Statewide) - Help the FCS Foundation establish relationships with other organizations that can benefit the clients we serve. The goal is to create a resource database that includes health and human service agencies, food banks, and other appropriate referral agencies.
The FCS Foundation is not able to accommodate court-ordered community service.
